RJ Hampton possible future nba first round draft pick......

Turns his back on college basketball.

And will play for the nz breakers in the australian nbl.

Basketball: Breakers sign promising US teenager RJ Hampton - NZ Herald

As someone who bets a lot on the aussie nbl and follows the league closely.
I have some thoughts.....

Excited by the signing. Hes obviously a very talented player. And seems very professional.
However he will be playing against grown men in what is a tough and physical league.

Expect his minutes to be limited. Perhaps 10-15 mins a game. That could change as he adapts to the league. And improves in the league.

New zealand Breakers are a well run and highly professional club, so he should fit in nicely.

I'm yet to meet an American tourist that comes to NZ that doesn't like it here.

Though sometimes when I'm speaking to someone who says they love it, I wonder if they are just being polite.

Hamptons bringing his family here with the move, being 18, his family being his Mother, Father and siblings.

Wish him all the best! and on his goal of the NBA.

One and done. Not sure why he didn't go to Kentucky. Probably could have made more money there.

We are a few games into the new season. Hampton has been decent so far. Just as important as his basketball skills he seems like a really decent human being. His parents should be very proud.

In the last game played versus Illawara Hawks there were 6 or more NBA scouts watching.
They were also checking out Lamelo Ball playing for the Hawks. Hampton won the night!

He's going to win over a lot of fans in my part of the world if the early indicators are anything to go on.

He had his lowest point in the league in the game tonight.

Put a deliberate shoulder charge on an opponent early on in the game and got ejected from the game.

First sign of having a fiery temper. So he should fight into the nba nicely!
