Wilder / Fury III
Deontay Wilder told Lance Pugmire he is definitely exercising his rematch clause for a summer trilogy against Tyson Fury.

New York Knight 02-24-2020 03:59 PM

Wilder is telling media his legs were weakened by his 45lb costume he wore to the ring leading to his defeat.

Wilder said he is re-evaluating retaining asst. trainer Mark Breland, because his team knew "I'd rather die in the ring than have the towel thrown in. I'm a warrior."

Wilder also had harsh words for referee Kenny Bayless, alleging Bayless declined to effectively confront Fury over a slew of punches to the back of Wilder's head and neck after telling Wilder he would disqualify him if he did the same in pre-fight dressing room.

I want to see Fury/Joshua

New York Knight 02-24-2020 07:34 PM

I can't wait to miss a third fight between these two.

He didnít hurt me at all, my costume was just too heavy for me ... GTFOH.

Joe Rogan podcast ... December 2018

Wilder confirms that he specifically trains wearing a "45-pound vest" to carry extra weight to activate his "twitch muscles"

But is was his costume that wore him out :toi<>

Promoters Eddie Hearn and Todd duBoef confirmed to Yahoo Sports on Thursday that Joshua, the IBF-WBA-WBO champion will defend his belts in a mandatory defense against Kubrat Pulev on June 20 in the United Kingdom.

Yeah, the costume thing is 100% bullshit - if anything it was the fact that he was pacing back and forth for the 2 hours leading up to the fight. Andre Ward called it out during the undercard and said he was gonna have weak legs if he didn't sit down and relax. Regardless, he was gonna lose that fight either way. No question that he gets smoked by Fury in the rematch.

Also, that's some serious bs that he fired Mark Breland. Breland had a phenomenal boxing career, he's been in those situations and knows what it's like first-hand. The other trainer who threw Mark under the bus has never boxed professionally in his life. Way to keep the "yes-man" Wilder.

New York Knight 03-06-2020 04:02 PM

Wilder finally used his head for something other than a punching bag and decided to keep Breland as part of his corner.

if I was Mark I would leave ... Total bullshit how he was treated.

DopeJohnPaul 03-06-2020 05:51 PM

Oh shit! He did keep him. Well that's good to hear, but yeah I agree with you -- some bs that he didn't handle all this privately. Breland will stay on for the rematch to get his cut and then bounce.

It's one thing to leave your guy in the ring if he's a welterweight, but when you have a 6'9" 285 lbs dude across from you and you're basically out on your feet already -- well, that's how people die, frankly.

The heavyweight title fight is scheduled for Oct. 3 in Vegas, sources tell The Athletic, another pay-per-view collaboration between ESPN and FOX.

No venue has been selected yet.

Wilder will earn 40% to Fury’s 60% under the guidelines of the agreement after the fighters split the revenue evenly for their second bout. The pay-per-view generated approximately 800,000 to 850,000 buys, per sources (the first meeting pulled in around 325,000.)

Sources tell The Athletic a Tyson Fury / Anthony Joshua bout is in talks for December in Saudi Arabia.

Fury owes Wilder rematch so step-aside money necessary if Wilder agrees. MTK leading discussions with Eddie Hearn and Team Wilder (Top Rank/Frank Warren in loop)
